His Holiness Concludes the Youth Summer Club in Sadad
On August 16, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II attended the concluding ceremony of the third annual Youth Summer Club in Sadad. The Summer Club included this year more than 800 young people aged between 5 and 17. This Club is sponsored by His Eminence Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs and organized by Rev. Fr. Rabban Boutros Al-Kassis.

This year, the Summer Club was named after the two martyrs from Sadad: Amjad Mtanous Al-Sheikh and Saado Yasser Latifeh.

The young children presented a panorama of what they have learned during the 70 days they have spent in the Summer Club. It included hymns, songs, traditional dancing, theatrical plays, etc…

His Eminence Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh thanked the organizers of the Summer Club and all those who supported it and contributed to its success. He emphasized that the Summer Club, which is an educational and recreational oasis for the young people, will continue by the grace of God. He also invited the parents to send their children to receive religious and civil education which will get them more attached to their Church and country.

His Holiness then engaged the children and young people from the Summer Club asking them about what they have learned in the club. He explained to them the importance of getting together in the church and praying. He encouraged them to apply the Christian values they have learned. He asked the children to address their fellows in Mosul and the Nineveh Plains in Iraq with a message of support. He promised to carry this message with him to Northern Iraq in his coming visit. He also praised the efforts and hard work of Rev. Fr. Rabban Boutros Al-Kassis who supervised and organized the Summer Club.

It is worth noting that the expenses of the Summer Club were covered by the donations of the faithful and a great contribution from the St. Ephrem Patriarchal Development Committee (EPDC) and other charities.
